Sadly the telescope as presented to me had no mount at all. Apparently it had been discarded as it was not recognised for what it was or does. So all I had to go on was plate 29 from Ellison’s book.
Some elements are clear, the fork, the altitude adjustment mechanism, and three old table legs! However the azimuth adjustment mechanism was just a blur in the image.
I spent a long time trying various image enhancement techniques, plus looked at contemporary mounts (ie Browning). This coupled with my insights into how Ellison did things has led to a design that is functionally correct and of the type that he would have used, if not exact in terms of materials, colours and small details.
